What is a passkey?
A passkey replaces or supplements your password with a one-tap sign-in using your device.
Quick Steps
- 1 A passkey is a credential stored on your device (phone, laptop, hardware key).
- 2 Instead of typing a password, you use Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello, or your device PIN.
- 3 The private key never leaves your device -- Bizity only sees a verification signal.
- 4 Stronger than any password and highly resistant to phishing.
- 5 Optional to enroll. Read "How do I add a passkey?" when you are ready.
A passkey is a modern replacement for passwords. Your device (phone, laptop, security key) holds the credential; you prove it is you with a biometric tap (Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello) or a PIN. Bizity only ever sees the verification signal, never the private key.
Why it matters:
- Phishing-resistant by design. A fake login page cannot trick your device into signing for the wrong site -- the credential is cryptographically bound to bizity.com.
- Faster sign-in. Half-second biometric tap instead of typing a password.
- Nothing to remember. No password to forget, lose, or leak.
Passkeys are optional. If you do not enroll one, you continue to sign in with your password exactly as before. Enrolling adds a second factor on top of your password by default -- the best of both worlds.
